New Linux flavours available
As we’ve been announcing on the IntoVPS twitter account we have a few new OS templates available:
- Archlinux 11.09
- Slackware 13.0
- Ubuntu 9.10
We’re currently working on Pardus and TurnKey. Looks like Pardus is not compatible with the OpenVZ kernel, we’re still working to find a solution.
If you’re interested in other Linux distributions let us know.
Are these 32 or 64-bit OS templates? Do you have 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10?
Hello Jim,
All these are 32-bit OS templates.
I don’t suppose there’s any prospects for these templates in 64bit formats then? I’d like to switch to Arch, but I’d rather not switch back to 32bit.
Most customers use 32bit and there’s usually no good reason for using 64-bit, specially since 64-bit installs consume more memory.
One good reason for 64bit is running MongoDB with large volumes of data. MongoDB on 32bit can only store up to 2GB of data because of the underlying mmap limitations..
Are you planning an image FreeBSD?
Unfortunately FreeBSD is not supported on OpenVZ.
It would be possible though on KVM or XEN.
We currently have only OpenVZ as virtualization technology.
